The unimaginable has struck the Douglas County. Our neighbors on the North Umpqua have been knocked to the ground by the fires that have also devastated one of the most priceless and precious places many of us have ever known.
But amid the tears, flames, ash, and pain, heroes are emerging. We knew this would happen. We knew our friends and families would step up and show their true colors. Pure selflessness. Love. Bravery. Generosity. In addition to those we know, there are also strangers who have gone out of their way to ease the pain of others. They deserve thanks. Words alone are not enough. In fact, there will probably never be a way to ever thank the heroes who put their lives on the line for the sake of friends and strangers in the name of doing what is right.
Nominate someone you think deserves thanks for standing in the face of the fires that have damaged us, but will never defeat us as long as heroes like these remain.
